New dog toy
I bought this new toy for the dogs with a high recommendation from the kid at the store who also has a 4 year old female Lab. It has a toughness ranking of 9 out of 10. This is how it looked after 5 minutes with Button. It does seem to be much stronger than most toys, but if we are going to have it longer than a day, I'm going to need to monitor playtime...
OK... So, when I went to get a photo of her with the toy I found this...
the squeaker, some stuffing and the "luggage-tough" edging. Oh well, I could take it back for a refund or I could just let her destroy the rest of it.

Update: Carbon's nail is doing fine now.

Before and After Button
Aunt Becky stopped by with Christmas presents for Button, Carbon and Lu. Both dogs got rope toys and Lu got kitty treats. They all love their gifts. Button had a great time chewing, ripping, and completely destroying her rope. Carbon's still looks brand new with it's tag attached even.

Scottie dogs
My friend Lisa has 2 Scottish terriers. This is Duncan in mid-bark or snarl. He wanted to play with the basketball or kill a squirrel. He would have been happy doing either.
Fiona has long beautiful eyebrows.
This is Duncan look less intimidating.
I thought only old men had eye brows that long.
Duncan had enough, he's outta here. For more photos of the Scottie, see the dog overflow blog.

Buttons favorite place to sleep
Button loves to fall asleep behind in the bend of your knees. She looks so content there. It's actually a nice place for her to fall asleep. It keeps your butt warm and isn't very intrusive.
I need to figure out a new routine for taking photos of the garden for winter. By the time I get home it's dark and I don't want to take flash photos of things. I guess I need to wake up earlier and get some morning images.

Fun with a face mask
Sid decided to put the dust mask I used when I was grinding up hot peppers, on Carbon's head.
Carbon was not harmed by this stunt.
Carbon is very trusting so he sat nice while it was placed on his head.
A half a second later Button was trying to figure out what it was.
Another half a second went by and she was snapping it around his neck.
A good, fast, chase around the yard and this was all that was left.

Everybody has a toy
Button with the orange ball looks like she wants Carbon to chase her around the yard.
Ohhh, he is such a good boy. He has the toy. Carbon is very proud when he has the blue toy. He prances over to both of us to show us the blue toy. This is one of many exciting moments in the day.

A peanut, 6 peppers and 2 black noses
I visited Becky today. She had a kid about 5 months ago. He seemed very happy to see me. His nickname is Peanut. Even his clothes have peanuts on them.
I picked a few peppers today. One was eaten by something a little, but it will dry nicely. Of course, the pups seemed very interested in them.

Grandkids (dogs) with backpacks
Sunflower looks like it has dreadlocks.
The kids are ready for school or at least a hike. They both now can carry enough water and poo for a couple of hours away from home. Button's new backpack is from Ruffwear. It seems like it is going to be a lot better than Carbon's. After a couple of hikes we will see if we need to get Carbon a new pack.
I picked several Anna Russian tomatoes this morning and shared them with some friends. Emily of luckymathilda, ended up with this beauty. I hope Sharla also enjoys the plain, boring tomatoes she received ;)

Plums & Dog Photos

Another photo of the La Salle sunflower.
I have a young Improved French prune/plum tree. This year 4 plums grew. One fell off the tree a month ago and the birds got another. These are the remaining plums. I hope we can eat them this weekend. I might try to take the yeast off the skins and make a sourdough starter.
Yesterday, when I first gave the pups the orange ball, Carbon got it first. That didn't last long...
Button got the ball and jumped on top of the dog house, the only place Carbon can't get her. He barks a lot and tries to jump up, but he just can't do it. To see the chase scenes, go to my overflow dog blog.
